Federal Palace

The Federal Palace is located in the Swiss city of Bern and serves as the seat of the Swiss Federal Parliament. It was inaugurated on April 1, 1902, at a cost of 7.198 million Swiss francs, and is one of the most photogenic buildings in Bern.

Designed by architect Hans Auer, the Federal Palace is a grand palace-style complex built from granite, consisting of a central dome hall and east and west wings. The dome itself stands 64 meters tall externally and 33 meters internally, exuding grandeur and magnificence. The roof of the Federal Palace is coated in a distinctive copper-green color, making it a key identifying feature. Inside, the palace houses numerous valuable court murals, sculptures reflecting the history of the federation, and rare treasures, making it well worth a visit. Except on public holidays and during parliamentary sessions, free guided tours are available daily.
