Powerscourt Estate

Powerscourt Estate is located in County Wicklow, Ireland, adjacent to Enniskerry. It is a grand estate renowned for its exquisite house and gardens, covering an area of 19 hectares.

Powerscourt Estate was first built in 1300 as the property of the Le Poer (Power) family, from which it gets its name. It has since been owned by families such as the Earl of Kildare. The estate features lush green lawns, densely wooded areas, and a vibrant array of flowers and plants in spring and summer. Italian-style sculptures, such as flying horses, adorn the ponds and fountains. In the distance, the rolling hills of the Wicklow Mountains can be seen. The interplay of lake and mountain scenery makes it a truly enchanting place. In 1603, the estate was granted to the Richard Wingfield family, who had rendered distinguished military service, and was subsequently expanded upon the original foundation by the renowned German architect Cassels, becoming one of Ireland’s larger and more famous gardens.

Today, Powerscourt Estate is managed by the Slazenger family and is a highly popular tourist destination in Ireland. In addition to its house and gardens, it also features a golf course, the Avoca Handweavers restaurant, and the Ritz-Carlton hotel.
