Wicklow Mountains National Park was established in 1991, covering an area of 204.8 square kilometers. Located in County Wicklow, Ireland, it is one of the six national parks managed by Ireland's heritage authority. Nestled among the rolling hills of the Wicklow Mountains and not far south of the capital city Dublin, the park is highly favored by urban residents and attracts visitors and history enthusiasts year-round.

The Wicklow Mountains were formed around 400 million years ago due to the collision and uplift of the ancient European and American continents. The park is divided into Upper Lake and Lower Lake areas, boasting stunningly beautiful scenery and often referred to as the "back garden of Dublin." The park features abundant natural resources, with diverse landscapes and vegetation layers including high mountains, bogs, and lakes. Its forests are home to many wildlife species such as red deer, sika deer, hares, crows, and falcons. Among them, the red deer is a rare species that migrated to Ireland during the Ice Age over 1,000 years ago and has lived there ever since.
