The Round Tower of Glendalough is located in Glendalough, County Wicklow, Ireland. It is the most iconic and tallest tower of its kind in Ireland. Standing at 110 feet (33.528 meters) tall and leaning by 1.5 feet (0.457 meters), it is one of the world’s most famous leaning towers. Its entrance is 26 feet (7.92 meters) above the ground — a special design intended to prevent monks from escaping and to protect relics from pirate raids. Archaeologists believe that the tower was built by monks in the 7th century but was not completed until the 10th century.

The Round Tower of Glendalough is situated in a mountainous region where rolling hills shelter the Powerscourt Estate and Glendalough Valley. The entire valley is shrouded in mist and covered in lush greenery. The Glendalough scenic area resembles a melancholic yet beautiful eye of nature. Over time, the tower has developed a noticeable tilt, which can be clearly seen when viewed from high above. Scattered around it are the remains of numerous Irish monasteries.
