The River Liffey is a river in Ireland that flows through the center of Dublin. For centuries, it has been used for trade. Around 60% of its water is used for the city’s drinking water and industrial purposes, making it, in a sense, the mother river of Dublin.

The River Liffey is 125 kilometers long, with major tributaries including the Dodder, Poddle, and Camac rivers. In recent years, it has developed into the most important recreational river in Dublin and has become an indispensable part of the city's leisure life. This recreational river offers a variety of water sports for locals, such as kayaking, fishing, and swimming. Since the 1960s, the River Liffey has been the venue for kayaking competitions, and the annual Liffey Swim takes place from late August to early September.
