Leinster House

Leinster House is the seat of both houses of the Oireachtas (the Irish Parliament), serving as a metonym for Irish political activity. It was formerly the residence of the Dukes of Leinster and has been used as the Irish Parliament building since 1922.

Construction of Leinster House began in 1745 and was completed in 1748. It has undergone several major expansions from the Victorian era to the present, enhancing its scale. Leinster House has become a must-visit attraction for every traveler to Ireland, not only because of its historic architecture but also due to its significant political role. Everyone takes a photo in front of Leinster House, just like visitors do with Tiananmen in Beijing. Visitors should note that Leinster House is open to the public only a few times each year, typically during May and June, the annual student visit season. Access is limited to specific groups—international tourists and local residents—and those wishing to visit must book in advance.
