The Irish Museum of Modern Art is located in one of the most magnificent 17th-century buildings in western Dublin. Opened in 1991, it is Ireland’s most prominent and influential modern art museum, primarily dedicated to collecting modern and contemporary art.

The museum building features a dignified exterior, spacious courtyards, and finely crafted interiors, making it one of the earliest public buildings in Dublin. With a collection of approximately 4,500 works, the museum has acquired pieces through various means since 1990, encompassing a significant array of modern artworks from Ireland and around the world from the 20th century to the present. Its permanent collection includes about 1,650 pieces, many created by renowned Irish and international artists, featuring paintings, prints, sculptures, and more. Many of these artworks reflect trends in Irish and global art development as well as elements of popular culture.

In addition to its permanent collection and exhibitions, the museum regularly hosts thematic exhibitions, live music concerts, and theatrical performances each year, offering art enthusiasts deeper insight and appreciation of the latest and most cutting-edge art.
