The Douglas Hyde Gallery is located at Trinity College Dublin and is a public contemporary art gallery that opened in 1978. For quite some time, it was the only publicly funded contemporary art gallery in Ireland and remains one of the most important.

Over the years, the Douglas Hyde Gallery has been renowned for hosting a diverse range of art exhibitions, showcasing outstanding works by both Irish and internationally acclaimed artists. The gallery is divided into two main exhibition spaces: the first space features the latest solo exhibitions, where works by artists such as Marlene Dumas, Gabriel Orozco, Peter Doig, and Billy Childish have been displayed. The second space, which opened in 2001, is used not only for temporary exhibitions but also primarily for displaying ethnographic items often excluded from major museums and galleries. Among the most notable exhibits are items belonging to a Nepalese shaman priest, Japanese tea bowls, and Ghanaian flags.

In addition to its diverse exhibitions, the Douglas Hyde Gallery is also well known for hosting a series of concerts. Artists such as Sufjan Stevens, Cat Power, and Laura Veirs have performed here, and sometimes these musical events are closely related to the exhibitions on display.
