Westport House is located in Westport, County Mayo, Ireland. It was the residence of the Marquess of Sligo and was built by the Browne family in the 18th century. Still owned by the Brownes today, it is considered one of the most beautiful historic castles in Ireland and is open to visitors.

The location of Westport House is exceptionally picturesque, surrounded by tranquil lakes, lush green lawns, and colorful gardens. It also offers one of the best views of Clew Bay. First opened to the public in 1960, the house has received widespread acclaim from visitors. Currently, over 30 rooms are accessible to tourists, with some featuring particularly attractive décor and furnishings—making it an ideal place to explore 18th-century interior styles. Several rooms showcase antique collections and works of art, making Westport House one of the few privately owned mansions in Ireland that are open to the public.
