Connemara National Park

Connemara National Park is located in the western part of County Galway, Ireland. Established in 1980, it covers an area of 2,957 hectares and features rolling mountains, vast bogs, expansive grasslands, dense woodlands, and lively wildlife, making it a vibrant destination.

The park is home to a wide variety of plants and animals. Due to the extensive areas of bogland and heath-covered moorland, there is a large population of wildlife and birds. Common bird species in the park include meadow pipits, skylarks, European stonechats, chaffinches, robins, and wrens, while local specialties include the red kite, northern goshawk, and peregrine falcon. Mammals are hard to spot, but wood mice are frequent visitors to the woodlands, while rabbits, foxes, stoats, and bats can be found in the bog areas.

To enhance visitors' experiences, the park offers picnic areas, children’s playgrounds, tea rooms, and scenic walking trails. Visitors can take leisurely walks, enjoy tea, or have a joyful family picnic.
