Dysert O’Dea Monastery is located in the town of Graiguenamanagh, County Kilkenny, Ireland. It is a 13th-century Cistercian monastery that has now been listed on the Record of Monuments and Places of Ireland. The monastery also serves as the parish church of Graiguenamanagh, and its beautiful monastic buildings occupy a prominent position in the town center.

Dysert O’Dea Monastery was founded in 1204 by Marshal, the first Earl of Pembroke. It is the first and largest Cistercian monastery in Ireland, as well as one of the finest among the 34 medieval Cistercian monasteries. Important remnants of the monastery still remain, and it has been fully restored as an early Cistercian site, largely constructed from yellow limestone. The original medieval floor tiles are still visible, and the monastery features an early English Gothic and Romanesque architectural style. Stone carvings from the 13th century are still evident, including carved leaf decorations, dog-tooth moldings, and ribbon shafts, along with numerous pointed windows.

At the main entrance of Dysert O’Dea Monastery, there is a 13th-century statue of a Norman knight holding a sword, with highly detailed and lifelike carvings — it is one of the best-preserved medieval statues in Ireland. In the northern corridor, there is a 14th-century model displaying the monastery. Near the monastery’s visitor center, there is an exhibition hall featuring contemporary Christian art and local historical artifacts.
