Slieve League is located in County Donegal, Ireland. It is a towering mountain on the vast Atlantic coast, where at an altitude of 601 meters stands the highest sea cliff on the island of Ireland. Though it is not as famous as the Cliffs of Moher, its natural magnificence is by no means inferior. The craftsmanship of nature is best displayed here, and with its altitude being three times that of the Cliffs of Moher, it offers an even more thrilling experience.

The Slieve League cliffs were formed by tectonic shifts and centuries of pounding waves from the Atlantic Ocean, making them a breathtaking masterpiece of nature. They combine the grandeur of the Scottish Highlands with the delicate beauty of England’s Lake District, providing visitors with endless surprises. The cliffs face west, offering the most stunning views at dusk, which are truly awe-inspiring. A spot called “Bunglass” provides the best vantage point for photographing the Slieve League cliffs.

Visitors can drive up to the top of Slieve League from the village of Teelin at the base, following a narrow mountain road. The final few kilometers of the drive are particularly memorable, as the road hugs the cliffside and includes several sharp turns — an exhilarating and thrilling journey. On clear days, the dramatic Donegal Bay can be seen from the cliff’s edge.
