Caherconnell Stone Fort is located in the Burren region of County Clare, Ireland. It is an ancient and exceptionally well-preserved Celtic stone ring fort that was inhabited roughly between the years 400 and 1200 AD. However, research by local historians in the early 20th century revealed that the entrance to this fort was rebuilt in the 15th or 16th century, indicating that it was occupied well into the late medieval period.

It is the only ancient fort ruin in the Burren area that has been scientifically excavated and developed as a tourist attraction. Twice the size of a typical ring fort, it is the best-preserved ring fort site in the Burren region of Ireland. The fort remains in its original form and overlooks nearly all surrounding areas, leading to speculation that it served as a defensive structure. However, it was not a military fort but more likely built to protect against raids or attacks by wild animals. Starting in the summer of 2010, Caherconnell Stone Fort became a school archaeological field school site every June, July, and August, where students can learn excavation techniques alongside leading archaeologists.
