Lifford is the county town and administrative capital of County Donegal in Ireland. In 2008, Lifford gained international recognition when it was awarded in Ireland’s Tidy Towns competition as one of the country’s most beautiful towns.

Lifford offers a wealth of tourist resources, such as picturesque natural landscapes and ancient historical buildings. The Lifford Courthouse, built in 1746 and designed by Dublin-based architect Michael Priestly, now serves as a museum that houses a permanent exhibition of documents and artifacts from the O’Donnell dynasty. Cavanacor House showcases what life was like for the ancestors of the 11th President of the United States, James Knox Polk, when they resided there. The towering St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church is also a magnificent sight. In addition, the scenic rural villages near Lifford provide an excellent opportunity to connect with nature and experience the unique local culture of Ireland.
