Athlone is a town in County Westmeath, Ireland, situated at the border between County Roscommon and County Westmeath, on the banks of the River Shannon. It is the largest town in the Midlands region and the 17th most populous town in County Westmeath.

Athlone has three major theatres, namely the Dean Crowe Theatre and Arts Centre, the Little Theatre, and the Passionfruit Theatre, making it a great destination for enjoying performances. The quietly flowing River Shannon is also a popular attraction, drawing swimmers, birdwatchers, and anglers alike to enjoy its scenic beauty while relaxing and unwinding. Athlone Castle reopened in 2012 and now houses eight exhibition spaces, using modern technology to present a range of exhibits. The Luan Gallery is a contemporary visual arts venue that showcases works by renowned Irish and international artists.
