Saint Petersburg Toy Museum

The Saint Petersburg Toy Museum is one of the members of the Russian Museums Association. Established in 1997, it is a non-state cultural institution owned by a private company. It is the second-largest museum in Russia after the oldest art and educational museum located in Sergiyev Posad near Moscow.

Founded as an art museum, the primary mission of the Saint Petersburg Toy Museum is to collect, store, exhibit, and research toys that possess unique artistic forms — not merely viewing toys as part of material culture. This includes ancient traditional Russian toys as well as contemporary, popular toys with artistic characteristics. According to art critics' reviews of the museum, the toys created by authors were produced in art workshops through various technical processes, including draftsmen, painters, sculptors, designers, and builders, and were formed around 20–25 years ago.

However, the Saint Petersburg Toy Museum does not only collect author-created artistic toys. It also houses a growing collection of Russian and international folk toys and fabric toys. These collections attract not only children but also a large number of adults who appreciate toy art.
