Travel to France Alert: Paris Government Anti-Terror Measures Authorize Police to Inspect Travelers’ Bags

Following the deadly St. Petersburg metro explosion,the Paris government has authorized police to inspect travelers’ bags. Travelers planning to visit Paris in the near future should take note of this decision.

According to the UK’s Daily Mail,Paris’ Minister of the Interior stated, “We are facing a very high terrorist threat.” In the wake of the St. Petersburg explosion, the Paris government has decided to enhance the city’s security network. Moving forward, bags of passengers deemed suspicious may be inspected in the metro.

In the past, such privacy-intrusive measures were highly criticized unless there was a valid reason. However, the new decision grants police the authority to conduct bag checks. Currently, 140 officers have been deployed across various districts in Paris.
