Poblet Monastery

Introduction Poblet is a Cistercian monastery composed of three cloisters. Founded in 1150, it reached its peak in the 14th century when its jurisdiction once covered seven baronies. The magnificent buildings, well-stocked library, and scriptorium constructed at that time fully reflect the monastery’s substantial wealth and influence. The monastery buildings seen today were built successively between the 12th and 18th centuries and were renovated in modern times. Today, around 30 monks live a monastic life here.

In 1991, Poblet Monastery was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Transportation Address: Vimbodi-Poblet
