Barcelona has the highest rate of mobile phone thefts in the world！A "720,000 NTD bill" shocks travelers

Losing your phone while traveling is especially unpleasant. More and more people rely on mobile apps for food, clothing, housing, and transportation — not to mention how painful it is to be without internet during a trip.

Taiwanese people especially love to vacation in Southern Europe. The travel website Lonely Planet recentlyreported,that Barcelona has the highest rate of mobile phone thefts in Spain, possibly due in part to its many tourists.

Criminal groups are believed to use stolen phones to make calls, causing huge losses for travelers. They often do this before the victims realize their phones are missing and notify their service providers. Last year, a traveler from Wales, UK, received a bill for 720,000 NTD.

While visiting Barcelona to admire Gaudí’s architecture, don’t forget to glance down occasionally and make sure your phone is still with you.
