The best airport restaurant, the award goes to Barcelona

Which is the most delicious airport restaurant in the world? The Daily Meal website spent six months conducting reviews and taste tests, and the results are in: the PortaGaig restaurant at Barcelona El Prat Airport in Spain takes the top spot, with Michelin one-star chef Carles Gaig at the helm. Coincidentally, other celebrity-chef-backed airport restaurants also made the list, including Jamie Oliver’s Union Jacks Bar at London Gatwick Airport in the UK, “Iron Chef” Catherine Cora’s Cat Cora's Kitchen at San Francisco International Airport, and the concept restaurant Altitude co-founded by Michelin-starred chefs Gilles Dupont and Thomas Byrne. These renowned chef-driven airport eateries are all featured on The Daily Meal’s list of the 31 most delicious airport restaurants in the world.

Taking a closer look at this list, American airport restaurants dominate the rankings, with only Barcelona and Amsterdam Schiphol Airport’s Bubbles Seafood & Wine Bar in Europe making the top ten, and the only Asian airport restaurant to be included is Singapore Changi Airport’s Kim Choo's Nyonya Kitchen, which ranks 19th. Regardless, this survey serves as a mini food guide — next time you’re at the airport, say goodbye to greasy fast food and cold sandwiches and embark on a culinary journey before takeoff.
