Hong Kong’s only non-stop flight route to Barcelona this summer — Cathay Pacific launches seasonal direct flights

Shake things up in Spain this summer. Cathay Pacific today announced the launch of a new seasonal service operating four flights per week between Hong Kong and Barcelona starting July 2, 2017 (subject to government approval), offering travelers an exciting new destination during the summer season and marking the first-ever non-stop connection between these two vibrant cities.

Cathay Pacific’s Barcelona flights will operate throughout the peak travel season until October 27, complementing the airline’s existing four weekly flights to Madrid, making it the carrier offering the most direct services between Asia and Spain.The new service is also the only direct flight connecting Hong Kong with Catalonia, Spain’s culturally rich autonomous region and home to its vibrant capital.

Cathay Pacific CEO John Slosar said: “Barcelona is a colorful city known for its tourism, culture, and global appeal. We’re excited to become the first airline to offer direct flights between Hong Kong and Barcelona, following the launch of our Madrid service last year.”

Famous for its art, architecture, cuisine, and nightlife, Barcelona is also home to FC Barcelona, one of the world’s top football clubs. A vibrant city in a rapidly developing region, Catalonia has grown into a key commercial and transportation hub. Located on the Mediterranean coast and with several beautiful beaches near its city center, Barcelona welcomed over 7.5 million visitors in 2015.
