La Rambla

Introduction: La Rambla was originally a small stream that separated the old city from the western city walls, hence its name. Between the 15th and 17th centuries, as Barcelona expanded, the stream was transformed into a street, and many beautiful churches and colleges were built along its sides. In the 18th century, trees were planted along both sides of the street, creating a wide and elegant tree-lined boulevard. Today, this street remains one of the busiest and most vibrant in Barcelona.

Near Catalonia Square, there is a historic fountain believed to bring visitors back to Barcelona every time they drink from it. It is also the spot where FC Barcelona celebrates its victories.

Joan Miró’s mosaic artwork often attracts visitors who stop to admire it up close.

Boqueria Market is another highlight along La Rambla. Transportation: Metro lines 1 and 3 – Catalunya, Liceu, or Drassanes stations.
