The full name of Barcelona Cathedral is "Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia of Barcelona," also known as "Barcelona Cathedral." It is the cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Barcelona and is built in the Gothic architectural style, making it one of Barcelona’s most important cathedrals.

This magnificent cathedral was built on the site of a former cathedral, with construction taking place between the 13th and 15th centuries. The main work was completed in the 14th century. Although its origins date back to the Roman period, it was ultimately completed during the Gothic era, which is why Gothic style dominates the cathedral’s architecture. The cathedral is dedicated to Saint Eulalia, who was martyred in Barcelona during Roman times. The exterior of the church is very plain, decorated only with vertical buttresses. The main façade was designed in 1408 and completed in the late 19th to early 20th century, making it a relatively new part of the structure. The naves inside the church are almost of equal height, giving the impression of a single open space. The side chapels each feature stained-glass windows that add brightness and a sense of openness. The dome of the church is enclosed within a wooden coffered ceiling.

The cloister of Barcelona Cathedral is built in the Gothic style and is home to 13 pure white swans. The presence of 13 swans symbolizes the age of Saint Eulalia, who was 13 years old at the time of her martyrdom.
