The Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys was formerly known as the "Estadi Olímpic de Montjuïc" and was renamed in 2001 to its current name in honor of the late President of the Catalan Autonomous Government, Lluís Companys. This large stadium is situated on Montjuïc Hill in Barcelona. Constructed in 1927, it served as the main venue for the opening and closing ceremonies as well as track and field events during the 1992 Summer Olympic Games.

The Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys was designed by Spanish architects as the venue for the 1929 Barcelona International Exposition. The 1957 Copa del Rey final was also held here. Between 1989 and 1992, the stadium underwent renovation, during which its classic original exterior was largely preserved. The seating capacity was increased to 55,926, and the interior facilities were completely modernized. The presidential box features a large dome that is 40 meters wide and 130 meters long. At the main entrance, replicas of Greek horse-riding sculptures stand on either side, while the Olympic cauldron is installed at the north entrance of the stadium. The cauldron stands approximately 18 meters high, weighs around 11 tons, and is made of titanium and stainless steel.

The Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys has hosted numerous major pop concerts, featuring artists such as Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, U2, Metallica, David Bowie, Michael Jackson, and Bon Jovi.
