Liseberg Amusement Park (Swedish: Liseberg) is a theme park located in Gothenburg, Sweden. Opened in 1923, it attracts around 3 million visitors annually and is currently the largest amusement park of its kind in Northern Europe. The park’s summer season runs from late April to mid-October, while the Christmas program runs from November until just before Christmas. Although fewer rides operate in winter, the park hosts a Christmas market offering traditional Swedish foods such as hot mulled wine (Glögg) and spit-roasted meat made from reindeer.

Liseberg is Sweden’s largest amusement park, featuring the world’s steepest wooden roller coaster. During the bustling summer season, the park is often filled with the screams of thrill-seekers on free-fall rides. It offers classic large-scale attractions as well as the largest 3D cinema in Northern Europe. Among its most famous rides are the roller coasters, haunted house, and motion simulator rides, with the roller coasters being an absolute must-try.

The park also frequently hosts wine tastings or tea parties. Liseberg has its own performing stars, but if you’re lucky, you might catch performances by big names like Edith Piaf, Birgit Nilsson, ABBA, Marlene Dietrich, Sammy Davis Jr., or Jimi Hendrix. Concerts, shows, and theater performances are one of the park’s main draws, with its stages open to all kinds of music — whether you’re a heavy metal fan or an opera lover, you’ll find something to your taste in the program lineup.
