Skövde is located in Västra Götaland County in south-central Sweden, nestled between Lake Vänern and Lake Vättern. It is a city blessed with stunning natural scenery and a rich cultural heritage. The Skövde City Museum boasts a collection of over 40,000 items, including letters, legal documents, maps, theatre posters, newspaper clippings, as well as thousands of photographs and portraits. The city’s newest museum, the Skövde Sports History Museum, opened in 2001 and showcases the city’s sports heritage through audio materials, photographs, trophies, sports equipment, and more. In addition, visitors can explore the Volvo Museum, which narrates the history of the Volvo car brand, and the Skaraborg Regiment Museum (Fästningsmuseet), which displays and collects military-related artefacts.
