Skara is located in Västra Götaland County, Sweden, about 130 kilometers northeast of Gothenburg. Though not very large, it is one of the oldest cities in Sweden, boasting a long history in education and the church—Sweden’s oldest upper secondary school is situated here.

Skara is the birthplace of many musicians and artists, with an artistic atmosphere that permeates every corner, giving it a unique reputation. Skara Cathedral, the seat of the Diocese of Skara, has origins dating back to the 11th century. The current building was constructed in the 13th century and stands 65 meters tall. Its medieval crypt was discovered in 1949. Skara Sommarland is a popular theme park located east of Skara. Opened in 1984, it is one of Sweden’s most beloved amusement parks, attracting 350,000 visitors each year.
