Neubrandenburg is an independent city in the southeast of the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, located about 135 kilometers north of Berlin. It is the third-largest city in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The city lies at the heart of the Mecklenburg Lake Plateau and serves as an important economic center in southeastern Germany.

Neubrandenburg is also known as the "City of Four Gates" due to its four medieval city gates, which are grand and magnificent. It is a city where the medieval city wall has been well preserved — standing 7 meters high and stretching 2.3 kilometers in circumference, featuring four red-brick Gothic gates dating back to the 14th or 15th century. St. Mary's Church, built in 1298, was almost destroyed in 1945 but fortunately restored in 1975. Its interior now houses a concert hall. The Regional Museum of Neubrandenburg, established in 1872, is one of the oldest cultural and historical museums in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. With its rich collections, it is a must-visit destination for those looking to explore the area’s history.
