Pig Beach is also known as "Pig Island" or "Marrjo Reef," and its official name is "Big Major Cay." It is an uninhabited island in the Bahamas that has gained worldwide fame for being home to a large population of wild pigs that can swim. These swimming pigs have become viral sensations.

Pig Beach is home to a group of the world’s “happiest” pigs. They can swim in the crystal-clear sea, lounge on the beach in the sun, or pose for photos with tourists, clearly making them the star animals of the island. The reason this uninhabited island has so many swimming pigs is said to be because their ancestors were abandoned here by passing sailors. Every year, large numbers of tourists are drawn to visit these “unique hosts.” The pigs swim with visitors and even beg for food, and many have uploaded funny videos of their swimming adventures with the pigs. These pigs love to surf along the shoreline, and they warmly welcome tourists arriving by boat—thus becoming a new popular attraction in the region.

Filmmaker Charles Allan Smith is currently making a documentary about the pigs, hoping to uncover evidence of how the pigs originally learned to swim.
