Chapultepec Zoo

Chapultepec Zoo is one of the four zoos in Mexico City. Construction began in 1923, and it opened to the public in 2004, making it the most well-known zoo in Mexico. The zoo was established by Mexican biologists using public donations and government funds. It boasts lush trees, abundant flowers, serene lakes, and beautiful scenery, making it an ideal habitat for animals.

Chapultepec Zoo is home to 245 species and over 2,500 animals, including 113 species that are endemic to Mexico. It attracts more than 6 million visitors annually. The zoo is widely renowned for its three female giant pandas, which draw countless visitors. The zoo has strict security measures, ensuring both the safety of the animals and a comfortable visiting environment for guests. Precious and dangerous animals are separated from visitors by thick glass barriers, while docile animals are enclosed by iron fences with a moat in between, preventing direct contact. To promote animal conservation awareness, the zoo frequently hosts exhibitions, lectures, and other educational activities.
