Mexico City is located in the central plateau region of central Mexico. It is the capital of Mexico and the country's political, economic, cultural, and transportation hub, as well as one of the largest metropolitan areas in the world. The city concentrates about half of the nation’s industry, commerce, services, and banking institutions, making it a highly developed urban center in Mexico.
