Reza Abbasi Museum

The Reza Abbasi Museum is located in Tehran, the capital of Iran. Its name comes from Reza Abbasi, a renowned artist of the Safavid dynasty. It first opened in 1977, then underwent four successive closures and reopenings, and finally reopened to the public for the fifth time in 2000.

The Reza Abbasi Museum houses and exhibits precious artifacts from the 2nd millennium BCE to the early 20th century during the Qajar dynasty. The collection is displayed chronologically, giving visitors the opportunity to understand the development and progress of Iran’s history, culture, and art through various periods. This makes it a unique and highly regarded museum in Iran. Exhibits include fired clay objects, ironware, and stone tools from the prehistoric period to the Iron Age; jewelry and hand-painted oil paintings from the pre-Islamic era; as well as textiles, lacquer paintings, and calligraphy from the Islamic period.

The museum also has a library with over 10,000 books in Persian, English, French, and German, covering Iranian history and culture, archaeology, and classical painting. In addition, there are magazines, newspapers, and more.
