Amir Timur Square

Built in the 19th century as a garden-style plaza, Amir Timur Square was created to honor Amir Timur (Tamerlane), a renowned strategist, military commander, and political figure in Uzbekistan’s history. During the Soviet period, the square was called “Revolution Square.” Uzbekistan lies within the territory of the former Timurid Empire, and this white marble Amir Timur Square stands as a tribute to this legendary figure.

In summer, temperatures in Tashkent can soar up to 40°C, but the fountains here offer a cool retreat. Children often play under the water jets, making it a paradise for kids. At the center of the square stands an impressive bronze statue of Amir Timur on horseback, wielding a weapon—majestic and dashing. The square is surrounded by lush green trees, with small flowers and grass covering the ground beneath them. Birds chirp incessantly as they forage on the lawns. Shaded pathways weave through the greenery, bustling with visitors. Aside from its beautiful trees, the garden also features fountains, cafes, and small restaurants where tired and hungry travelers can stop for a meal.
