Attraction Introduction

Kabul University is the most renowned university in Afghanistan. Its fame stems from two main aspects: first, the presence of eminent scholars—nearly all of Afghanistan’s most distinguished academics are gathered here; second, its grand buildings—which, however, do not necessarily refer to skyscrapers in the conventional sense. In fact, after decades of conflict, there are hardly any eye-catching buildings left on campus.

When the faculty and students of Kabul University refer to the "grand buildings," they usually mean a structure that has withstood over a century of vicissitudes yet remains well-preserved—this is the memorial of Sayyid Jamal al-Din al-Afghani, a renowned Afghan scholar from the late 19th century.
