Singapore ranks 1st, South Korea 2nd globally in passport power — where does Taiwan stand?

Canadian financial consultancy Arton Capital has released the latest “Passport Index,” ranking passports based on the number of visa-free destinations. Germany and Singapore share the top spot with visa-free access to 159 countries, making their passports the most powerful in the world. Taiwan ranks 30th.

According to the “Global Passport Power Rank 2017,” German and Singaporean passports are ranked first, with Swedish and South Korean passports offering visa-free entry to 158 countries and taking second place. Danish, Finnish, Italian, French, Spanish, Norwegian, British, Japanese, and American passports all provide access to 157 countries visa-free, tying for third place.

As for Taiwan, it ranks 30th with visa-free access to 121 countries, dropping two places from the start of the year. Meanwhile, Afghanistan’s passport is the least welcomed, with visa-free access to only 22 countries, placing it at the bottom of the list. Pakistan ties for second-to-last with 22 visa-free countries, while Iraq ranks third-to-last with 26 visa-free destinations.
