Haraba (Habalah) is an excellent tourist destination in Saudi Arabia. Formerly a beautiful small village, the remaining rows of secluded houses are now favored by many travelers. The English name Habalah means “the hanging village,” and in fact, this small village is situated atop a cliff one thousand feet high. Haraba was the first place to use cable cars as a means of transportation.

The beautiful houses in the Haraba village are located about one hundred meters from the cable car station. The original residents used to commute by sliding along ropes tied to iron cables. Haraba was eventually abandoned mainly due to the many inconveniences faced by local residents. Visitors to Haraba are eager to admire the intricate carvings on the porches of the village houses and to take in the natural beauty of the entire valley and the terraced fields cascading below the cliff. Travelers can reach Haraba by car from Abha in Saudi Arabia, which is only 40 kilometers away, or they can drive there themselves.
