Coronation Park

Coronation Park is located in Delhi, India. It was the site of Queen Victoria's coronation as Empress of India in 1877, later celebrated the accession of Edward VII, and hosted the coronation of George V in 1911, making it a widely renowned royal coronation site in India.

Grand and solemn durbar ceremonies were held at Coronation Park in 1877 and 1903, where the entire government ruling India pledged allegiance to Queen Victoria and her successor, Edward VII. The park houses the largest and tallest statue of George V, standing proudly atop an ornately decorated pedestal. This statue was relocated here in the 1960s and faces the India Gate, commemorating his role in laying the foundation for the establishment of New Delhi. In addition to the statue of George V, the park also features the prominent Coronation Memorial, an obelisk made of sandstone erected in honor of George V’s coronation as Emperor of India.
