The official name of Connaught Place is "Rajiv Chowk," named after Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. It is the central business district of New Delhi, built between 1929 and 1933. As the heart of New Delhi, it serves as the hub for commerce, tourism, and transportation.

Connaught Place is a large circular plaza and one of India's main commercial streets. Its name originates from the British royal family member, the Earl of Connaught. In the center is a central park, surrounded by three concentric rings of roads with eight major avenues radiating outward in all directions.
