Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is located in New Delhi, the capital of India. It is a Roman Catholic cathedral and one of the oldest church buildings in New Delhi. The cathedral was initiated by Father Luke, a Franciscan friar, and designed by Henry Medd.

The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was laid down in 1929 by the Archbishop of Agra and construction began in 1930. It features an Italian style, with a façade adorned by circular towers, white columns, and porticos at each side entrance. The interior has a lofty arched roof. Sir Anthony de Mello donated the marble high altar, while the Archbishop of Agra gifted the bells and vestments. Prayers are held here every morning and afternoon, and major celebrations such as Easter and Christmas are observed here. In addition, a variety of cultural and social events are also hosted here.
