Introduction

With a history of over a century, Boat Quay can be considered the birthplace of Singapore as a trading hub. By 1860, about one-third of Singapore’s trade was conducted here, and the old warehouses along the quay have witnessed the city’s historical evolution. Today, the boats that come and go at Boat Quay no longer carry goods but tourists from around the world, while the old warehouses have been transformed into restaurants and bars that welcome visitors from all directions. Tip: The quay is most distinctive at night. In the evening, one side is the gently flowing Singapore River, and the other is lined with restaurants and bars lit up, giving the whole street an exotic atmosphere. Transport
