Introduction

　 The Old Parliament House was built in 1827 and is the oldest government building in Singapore. After the Singapore Parliament relocated to the nearby Parliament Place 1, the Old Parliament House was converted into an “Arts House” that brings together a diverse range of modern visual arts, films, music, dance, and theatre performances. It boasts a variety of artistic facilities including a small cinema, concert hall, black box theatre, rehearsal spaces, reception rooms, visual art exhibition galleries, and a constitutional history exhibition gallery. Visitors can also learn about the original appearance of the parliament building in its heyday and discover the many notable historical figures who were once active here. The seats in the parliamentary chamber are all marked with names, among which the most popular is the seat of former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew. The bronze statue erected outside this national building is a gift presented by King Rama V of Thailand in 1871. Transportation
