Introduction

The Kranji War Memorial was built to honor the soldiers from various countries—including Britain, Australia, Canada, Sri Lanka, India, Malaysia, the Netherlands, and New Zealand—who died fighting to defend Singapore during World War II. The cemetery is the final resting place of over 4,000 fallen soldiers, but there were also 24,000 army and air force personnel who perished in the war whose bodies were never found. Their names are inscribed on the 12 pillars of the memorial as a tribute. Transportation
