Ho Chor’s Art Museum

Ho Chor’s Art Museum opened in 2003 and is the first private museum in Singapore to collect modern art from Asia and Europe. Its collection includes 1,500 paintings by 135 artists from China, Indonesia, Singapore, and Europe. The museum serves only as an exhibition venue and does not sell paintings. It operates as a non-profit establishment, offering a space to enhance taste and appreciation, allowing visitors to gain a deeper understanding of the richness and depth of fine arts.

The museum houses works by renowned modern Chinese artists such as Wu Guanzhong, Pan Yuliang, Xu Beihong, and Zao Wou-Ki; outstanding pieces by 19th- to 20th-century French painters Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot and Georges de La Tour from Europe; as well as masterpieces by Singaporean artists Chen Wenji, Chung Sou-Pin, Cheong Soo Pieng, and Low Xiao Min. The main gallery focuses on short-term and touring exhibitions organized by local and international guest curators, with the highlight being the extensive collection of individual artworks by Wu Guanzhong. In addition to Wu Guanzhong’s pieces, the museum also features works by Singapore’s celebrated artist Low Xiao Min, who specializes in landscape painting, bringing viewers into vivid, realistic natural settings.
