ArtScience Museum

The ArtScience Museum is located at Marina Bay Sands. With the support and assistance of Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, it opened in 2011 and boasts an exhibition space of up to 60,000 square meters, making it the world’s first ArtScience museum. The ArtScience Museum is the world’s first museum that combines art and science. It has a distinctive shape with ten “finger-like” structures resembling a blooming lotus by the water, often referred to as the “Welcome Hand of Singapore.”

Every design element of this building, both inside and out, embodies the museum’s mission of building a bridge between art and science. Inside, there are 21 galleries — three permanent ones: Curiosity, Inspiration, and Expression. Curiosity encourages visitors to reflect deeply on how to define art and science; Inspiration is an interactive gallery that documents moments of inspiration that energize the worlds of art and science; and Expression is a vivid multimedia gallery that showcases humanity’s ability to use inspiration to shape a better world in an engaging way. The ArtScience Museum takes visitors on a journey to explore extraordinary achievements representing East and West, past and present, and the fusion of art and science across eras. Drawing inspiration from eminent figures such as Leonardo da Vinci and Lu Ban, the galleries feature ever-changing large media screens that display innovations in the fields of art and science.
