Power Station

At first glance, the name might lead you to think of a power generation facility, but in fact, it’s the complete opposite. The Power Station was established by Kuo Pao Kun in 1990 as Singapore’s first independent contemporary art center, aiming to provide a space for interaction between the public and artists, and to promote the development and flourishing of the arts, as well as to enrich artistic expression.

The Power Station is committed to providing exhibition space for emerging artists and viewing opportunities for audiences, featuring a black box theater, an art gallery, a dance studio, a flexible open space, and two multi-purpose classrooms. The works displayed often carry a degree of challenge and exploration. The Power Station showcases a diverse range of art forms—from traditional dance to contemporary dance, from early visual arts to the literary art of today’s younger generation of poets. In addition, internationally renowned films, operas, plays, and concerts are also presented here.

The Power Station has become a barometer of the latest trends in Singapore’s performing and visual arts, where you can enjoy some of the most popular artistic performances and shows. In addition, it also hosts various events such as seminars and international short film festivals.
