Helix Bridge

Also known as the "Double Helix Bridge," the Helix Bridge is located where the Singapore River meets Marina Bay. Opened in 2010, it is a pedestrian bridge connecting Marina Centre and Marina Bay. Designed by Australian architects and engineers, the bridge links Singapore’s commercial, cultural, and entertainment districts.

The Helix Bridge is the world’s first double-helix pedestrian bridge. Spanning 280 meters in length and 6 meters in width, although not very long, it is an exceptionally creative structure. Inspired by the structure of DNA, the design embodies the meaning of "life and continuity, renewal and growth." Its concept features a curved form that connects seamlessly with the pathways on either end. The bridge is equipped with a canopy to provide shade and shelter from the tropical climate. The letters C and G, as well as A and T, are displayed along the bridge, representing the four basic nucleobases that make up DNA — cytosine, guanine, adenine, and thymine. At night, these letters light up in red and green, creating a stunning visual effect.

The Helix Bridge also features circular viewing platforms where pedestrians can rest or take in city views. It also serves as one of the best vantage points for water sports and fireworks displays. The bridge has also become a space for showcasing children’s artwork, with paintings by kids exhibited inside for passersby to admire.
