Singapore Bunker

The bunker is located 9 meters underground in Fort Canning Park. Built in 1941, it served as the largest British underground command center in Malaya during World War II. During the Battle of Malaya, Singapore functioned as an emergency command hub, and this historically significant bunker was constructed to meet wartime needs.

The bunker has now been converted into a museum, which opened in 1997 and primarily showcases the scene of Singapore's surrender to the Japanese forces. It is a bomb-proof underground structure with air circulation. During the tour, visitors can experience the historical events of February 15, 1942 — the day of Singapore’s surrender — through audiovisual animations, special effects, and lifelike figures. The 22 rooms of this underground complex are connected by a main corridor and also lead to other areas.

As visitors explore the 22 rooms of the bunker, the sounds of bombings resonate around them, creating an immersive atmosphere as if they were in the midst of war. Each room recreates scenes from that era, offering an authentic experience of the wartime environment.
