Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall

The Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall consist of two white Victorian buildings connected by a public corridor and a grand clock tower. The one on the left is the Victoria Theatre, and the one on the right is the Victoria Concert Hall. They were designated as national monuments in 1992, attracting numerous visitors.

The Victoria Theatre was built relatively early and named after the British queen. In 1901, the Victoria Memorial Hall was constructed to the left of the theatre, which was renamed the concert hall in 1978. Construction of the clock tower between the two buildings began in 1906. The tower stands 54 meters tall, is 4 meters wide, and weighs 1,000 kilograms, closely linking the two structures. Though tall and majestic, the clock tower does not feel bulky. Its crown-shaped spire soars into the sky, adorned at the top with five bronze bells. The Victoria Theatre has 904 seats, while the Concert Hall has 883, and it boasts the best acoustics in Singapore, making it a popular venue for various concerts.

In front of the Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall stands a dark bronze statue of Sir Stamford Raffles. Similar to the one along the Singapore River, the dashing Sir Stamford Raffles stands with his arms crossed, gazing into the distance, exuding a gallant aura.
