Patong Beach

Located on the west side of Phuket Island, Patong is a place rich in Thai culture, with its long coastline lined by dozens of luxury hotels.

Patong Beach features a famous nightlife street where, along a stretch of less than 1,000 meters, there are dozens of uniquely styled cafes, bars, and hotels, mostly with Western styles, exuding the atmosphere of a South Asian beach.

Grab a bottle of beer and squeeze into one of the flickering-light bars alongside countless European and American tourists, and you’ll be swept up in the vibrant atmosphere. Additionally, Patong is home to a world-class theme park called "Phantom of the Opera." It boasts a “mega” restaurant that can accommodate thousands of diners simultaneously, featuring extremely luxurious decor, and the Elephant Palace, a world-class theme performance venue that stages large-scale song and dance shows every night, blending high-tech with Thai culture.

Transportation:

From the city center, you can take a TUK-TUK for about 300 baht, or take a bus. The bus starts on Ranong Road in Phuket Town (opposite the airport), passes several major beaches, allows for hop-on-hop-off service, runs every half hour, operates from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and costs 15–20 baht. Taking a taxi from Phuket Airport costs around 600 baht, with a travel time of 45 minutes to 1 hour. TOP

Entertainment:

Various water activities such as swimming, sunbathing, banana boat rides, windsurfing, and yachting; the water here is crystal clear with a rich diversity of marine life, making it one of the most renowned diving spots in Asia.

For those wanting to experience the lively nightlife, head to Bangla Road. There are many open-air bars that stay open until around 2:00 AM.

Along Rat-U-Thit Road, numerous stalls operate from evening until late at night, creating a bustling atmosphere. This area has over 100 different types of bars and disco clubs. Notably popular are Tiger Disco and Banana Disco, with the latter being especially favored by younger crowds.

Here you’ll find everything from noisy beer bars to more upscale cocktail lounges, as well as live music venues like Saxophone and Rock City, and entertainment spots such as Simon Cabaret known for its ladyboy shows and Muay Thai boxing arenas.

After the Tsunami:

In Patong, the scars of the tsunami are no longer visible, and everything has returned to normal. However, on December 26th each year, a tsunami memorial event is held on the beach, where visitors come to mourn loved ones lost in the disaster.

Tips: Patong Beach has the highest prices, so try not to shop there. The streets just inland from Patong Beach have slightly lower prices, and it’s best to exchange money and do your shopping on the main inland road, RAT-U-THIT 200 PEER Road.
