Highlights: The half-buried Buddha statue: This uniquely styled Buddha statue is said to be very efficacious, attracting many Thai worshippers. Introduction: Located 20 km from the city center, this is the oldest temple on Phuket Island. The temple houses a Buddha statue that is half-buried underground. Legend has it that when the Burmese invaded the area, they attempted to take the statue away, but a large swarm of bees gathered on the statue, preventing the Burmese from excavating it, thus allowing the statue to be preserved to this day. Transportation: First take a shared pickup truck to Thalang, then walk along the main road in the direction opposite to the city. Soon you will see a sign for the temple; turn right there to reach the temple grounds. From the junction leading to Ton Sai Waterfall, it is only a 10-minute walk to the temple.
